Malta enjoyed a rather good Euro 2008 qualifying campaign. True - they did finish last, but in contrast to previous campaigns, in most matches the Maltese gave up a fight, forcing their superior opponents to work hard to win.
This (relative) progress will be put to the test in the World Cup qualifying campaign, and winning a point from their opening match at home with Portugal will mark a huge step forward for the minnows.

Bottom Line: It's all about fighting. Winning is not a must though...
